Call of Duty's RICOCHET Anti-Cheat team published a September 18, 2026 post that treats cheating as a layered market, saying it has disrupted more than 375 reseller operations and helped shut down 31 primary cheat vendors. The post repeats an outside estimate of about $8.5 billion a year for the wider cheating economy and sets out what a subscription costs buyers and what data they hand over.
Overwatch Season 5 moved Sombra from damage to support, removed her old Hack ability and Virus, and replaced Roadhog's secondary fire with Trash Compactor. Hotfix still hacks some objects while healing allies; the patch also revised projectile sizes and 34 hero hit volumes.
The Indie Stone moved Project Zomboid's Build 42.21 from its Unstable test branch to Stable on September 28, five days after the test build. The update fixes zombies that disappeared when a player re-entered a chunk, tackles multiplayer duplication, and restores the loadstring and loadstream Lua commands that a security hotfix had disabled.
Respawn published the results of two Ranked matchmaking experiments on September 30, 2026, and neither becomes permanent. A one-tier limit on premade squads changed little outside Diamond and Platinum, and locking Diamond, Master and Predator players to solo queue removed the stacks without making matches more even.
CD Projekt Red released patch 5.01 for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered on October 8, 2026, fixing a save file data issue, settings that reset on PlayStation 5 and on PC, and boats that moved uncontrollably. A Switch 2 parity update is still in progress.
Fortnite's 99 Nights in the Forest crossover is part of Fortnitemares 2026, which Epic says runs until November 1. The Deer outfit costs 1,500 V-Bucks and the bundle 2,000, while The Deer Sprite is found in Pumpkin Chests during matches, and Epic has published no removal date for the shop items.
