Fortnitemares 2026 runs in Fortnite until November 1, and 99 Nights in the Forest is part of it. The crossover is a set of shop cosmetics rather than a game mode. The Deer outfit sells for 1,500 V-Bucks, the bundle that carries it is listed at 2,000 V-Bucks against an original price of 2,900, and the one deer-themed piece that is not for sale is a Sprite you find during matches.

What Epic announced, and the end date

Epic's Fortnitemares 2026 news post is dated October 1, 2026. It describes an event that spreads corruption across Battle Royale, Horde Rush and Reload, with cursed cartridge Overrides that hide you while you sprint, lift your damage when your health drops, or dress your squad as Halloween props. Five Nights at Freddy's animatronics patrol the Island and can be brought down and possessed. A new Bonerattler SMG shows enemies through walls. Freddy Krueger waits in a new location called Nightmare Neighborhood, and beating him hands you Freddy's Nightmare, an item that teleports you into range and slashes through your next opponent.

That post gives no end date. The longer community post it links to does, and the line is short: Fortnitemares returns with Freddy Fazbear, Hazbin Hotel, Freddy Krueger, Beetlejuice, Obsession and more, "running until November 1." The same post dates two other pieces of the update. Nightmare Island returns to Reload on October 8 with a refreshed map, Elite Kado Thorne calling the shots and Siphon loot, while Stranger Things and Squid Grounds join the map rotation. A Power Hour on October 3 drops every player in with the Dual Fiend Hunters.

Where 99 Nights in the Forest comes from

99 Nights in the Forest is a Roblox experience, not a Fortnite mode. Roblox's own search data, checked on October 12, listed it under the creator Grandma's Favourite Games with 5,460,856 upvotes against 574,030 downvotes and 223,405 players in the game at that moment. The description reads: "Build a camp with friends. Something is watching you."

Fortnite's version of it is cosmetic. Epic's October 1 post names 99 Nights in the Forest in a list of franchises whose outfits and accessories follow throughout October, together with A Nightmare on Elm Street, Black Clover, Hollow Knight, Hazbin Hotel, The Purge, Obsession, Slender Man, Beetlejuice, Predator: Badlands and Universal Studios' Halloween Horror Nights. The Five Nights at Freddy's outfits were already in the Shop when that post went up, which placed the 99 Nights in the Forest items in a later October wave. By October 12 they were listed.

What The Deer and the bundle cost

Epic's Item Shop page grouped the crossover under a 99 Nights In The Forest heading on October 12. These were the prices shown there at the time.

ItemTypeV-Bucks
The DeerOutfit1,500
99 Nights in the Forest BundleBundle2,000 discounted, 2,900 original
Old SackBack Bling300
Taming FlameEmote400
Old AxePickaxe500
The Deer's EyesWrap500

The five items bought one at a time add up to 3,200 V-Bucks. Both bundle prices sit below that, and Epic lists the current saving as 900 V-Bucks.

The Deer Sprite comes from Pumpkin Chests

The community post lists the Sprites added across the Island for the event, including Spooky Dash, Vampire, Dumpster Dive, and Honey and Obsession on October 15. One entry matters here: "The Deer Sprite: Make your melee attacks hit harder."

Epic does not label The Deer Sprite as part of the 99 Nights in the Forest set, and the shared name is the only link the post makes between them. The route to it differs from the outfit's. Sprites come out of Pumpkin Chests during matches, so this one is found rather than purchased.

A generic orange chest-like container releases a glowing geometric leaf-shaped sprite across a dark editorial background.

What the event lets you earn

The deer outfit sits on the shop side of Fortnitemares. The rest of the event has an earned side. Horde Rush returns with waves of Cube Monsters, Cursed Shrines that raise the difficulty, and an Endless Mode that continues after the final boss goes down. Loot Hacks let you shape your loot pool, with options including Last Call, the Infantry Rifle, the Pumpkin Launcher, the Light Machine Gun and Slap Candy Corn. In Blitz Royale, eliminating the holder of Ghost Face's Last Call knife takes both the weapon and the role. Ranked and competitive playlists see a share of the event's vaults and unvaults, so weapon pools move there too.

How to get the outfit, and what is not published

Open the Item Shop and find the 99 Nights In The Forest section. The Deer is listed there on its own at 1,500 V-Bucks, and the bundle sits in the same section at 2,000 V-Bucks with Old Sack, Taming Flame, Old Axe and The Deer's Eyes inside it. Either purchase needs V-Bucks on the account.

Nothing in Epic's Fortnitemares post ties the outfit or the bundle to a quest, a challenge or a match objective. November 1 covers the event itself. It does not cover the shop listing. Epic says the crossover outfits and accessories follow throughout October and publishes no removal date, so the prices above are a snapshot of October 12 rather than a promise about the rest of the month.

Players are asking the same question. A thread on the Fortnite subreddit about whether The Deer is worth buying carried 39 comments when it was checked on October 12, and a second thread praising the skin carried 13. Those numbers show discussion, not an official answer, and Epic has not said whether the outfit will return to the Shop later.
