Samsung’s Preliminary Q3 Guidance Puts Operating Profit at 107.4 Trillion Won
Samsung’s preliminary Q3 2026 guidance calls for sales of about KRW 195 trillion and operating profit of KRW 107.40 trillion. The figures are estimates, not final results, and the release gives no segment breakdown for the projected increase.

Samsung Electronics expects third-quarter 2026 sales of about 195 trillion Korean won and operating profit of about 107.40 trillion won, according to its preliminary guidance released October 8. The estimate is substantially above the company’s second-quarter results and the year-earlier quarter, but it is still guidance rather than a full earnings report. Samsung says the figures are the median of its internal estimate ranges under K-IFRS.
The gap between the two measures matters. Revenue is the company’s sales across its businesses, while operating profit reflects income after operating costs. The preliminary release gives a consolidated total but does not yet provide the segment breakdown needed to see how much came from memory chips, mobile devices, displays or other businesses.
What Samsung’s guidance says
Samsung’s estimated range is 194 trillion to 196 trillion won in sales and 107.3 trillion to 107.5 trillion won in operating profit. Korean disclosure rules do not allow the company to publish earnings estimates as a range, so Samsung provided the midpoint as its headline estimate and listed the underlying range separately. The guidance is consolidated and does not show how much came from each business.
The company’s second-quarter figures were 171.5 trillion won in sales and 89.49 trillion won in operating profit. For third-quarter 2025, the comparable figures were 86.06 trillion and 12.17 trillion won. Calculated from Samsung’s figures, the guidance is roughly 14% above Q2 sales and 20% above Q2 operating profit; against Q3 2025 it implies much larger increases from a lower base. Those are comparisons of guidance with reported figures, not final Q3 results.
Why investors focused on memory and AI
In its second-quarter results, Samsung said its Memory Business reached record quarterly revenue and operating profit, citing AI demand, server products and industry-wide price increases. The Device Solutions division accounted for KRW 127.5 trillion in revenue and KRW 89.2 trillion in operating profit, while the Device eXperience division’s sales fell 9% quarter over quarter. That earlier mix gives context for the Q3 estimate, but it does not disclose the source of the new quarter’s growth.
Samsung’s Q2 outlook expected robust server-memory demand in the second half as AI infrastructure spending continued, while warning that supply constraints would persist. The company also expected rising component costs and softer consumer demand to remain challenges for its mobile business. Those were earlier expectations, not a breakdown of the Q3 result.
In an r/stocks discussion, users debated whether memory pricing and AI demand could continue. The post had 240 points in the captured snapshot. Online comments do not establish how long prices or margins will remain elevated.
The segment breakdown matters for a company with both semiconductor and consumer-electronics operations. Higher memory prices can improve chip margins while raising component costs for smartphone and device makers. Samsung’s final results should show more about which divisions contributed and whether the improvement was concentrated in semiconductors.
The final report still matters
The October 8 figures are estimates based on K-IFRS, not final audited results. They do not include a full cash-flow statement, capital expenditure detail or a division-by-division explanation. Operating profit is not net income; interest, taxes and other items are reported elsewhere in the company’s financial statements. Samsung’s release presents the figures in Korean won, while dollar amounts in online headlines are currency conversions.
The complete third-quarter report and its segment commentary will show whether the preliminary total held and how each business contributed.
