The Golden Globes published the 30 podcasts that can compete for Best Podcast at its 84th ceremony on 5 October 2026. The list was compiled by Luminate, the Globes' data partner. None of the 30 is nominated yet: each show has to submit by 30 October 2026 to reach the nominations ballot, and the Globes says submission is mandatory to be considered. Nominations follow on 7 December 2026, and the ceremony on 10 January 2027.

The 30 podcasts that can enter

The list runs in alphabetical order: Bad Friends, Behind the Bastards, Call Her Daddy, Conan O'Brien Needs A Friend, Crime Junkie, Dateline NBC, Good Hang with Amy Poehler, Las Culturistas with Matt Rogers and Bowen Yang, Love Trapped, Matt and Shane's Secret Podcast, Morbid, MrBallen Podcast: Strange, Dark & Mysterious Stories, My Favorite Murder with Karen Kilgariff and Georgia Hardstark, New Heights with Jason & Travis Kelce, Pardon My Take, Pod Save America, Revisionist History, Rotten Mango, SmartLess, Stuff You Should Know, The Bill Simmons Podcast, The Daily, The Joe Rogan Experience, The Megyn Kelly Show, The Mel Robbins Podcast, The Shawn Ryan Show, The Toast, The Tucker Carlson Show, This American Life and This Past Weekend w/ Theo Von.

The names mix interview and comedy shows with daily news, true crime and sports series.

What the 30 October deadline decides

The list names shows that are "eligible to submit for consideration" in the Best Podcast category. It does not name nominees. Eligible podcasts have until 30 October 2026 to submit "in order to appear on the nominations ballot", and the announcement adds that "Submission is mandatory to be considered for the ballot". A show with a large audience that does not file by then is not on the ballot.

Who builds the list, and who votes

Luminate compiles the eligible list, and the Globes points to its awards rules for the criteria the data partner uses. The same page links separate campaign guidelines for the 84th ceremony. The nominations and the awards are decided by "an independent body of international journalist voters", the Globes says on its FAQ page.

That page describes who can apply: an experienced international entertainment journalist at a recognized media organization, in the United States or overseas, working for a newspaper, magazine, radio or broadcast outlet, photo service or digital platform. Personal blogs, social media profiles and review sites do not qualify. Voters accept a code of conduct, a conflict of interest policy and a gift ban covering gifts and promotional items from studios, networks, streamers, agencies and publicists.

A concept diagram separates a data-partner sorting desk from a separate table of journalist voters.

The dates between the entry deadline and the ceremony

Submissions opened on 1 June 2026 for "Motion Picture, Television and Podcast Programs". After the 30 October deadline, television and podcast nomination ballots go to all voters on 16 November. Press conferences for those categories close and programs must be uploaded to the Globes' Indee viewing platform by 22 November, and ballots must reach KPMG, which tabulates the results, by 5 p.m. PST on 23 November.

Nominations are announced at 5 a.m. PST on 7 December. Final ballots go out on 18 December and are due by 5 p.m. PST on 2 January 2027. The 84th Golden Globes is presented at 5 p.m. PST on 10 January 2027.

Where the podcast track splits from film

Television and podcast nominations are settled first. Their ballots reach voters on 16 November and come back to KPMG on 23 November. Motion picture ballots, and the Cinematic and Box Office Achievement category with them, go out on 24 November and are due on 4 December, with press conferences for those categories closing on 2 December. Both tracks meet again on 18 December, when KPMG sends the final ballots for every category to all voters.

Where the podcast award sits at the Globes

The Globes counts Best Podcast among its recently added categories, alongside Best Cinematic and Box Office Achievement and Best Performance in Stand-Up Comedy on Television. The ceremony's own description calls it "the largest awards show in the world to celebrate the best of film, television and podcasting".

Nikki Glaser returns as host. CBS carries the show, Paramount+ streams it, and Dick Clark Productions produces it. The Globes says the ceremony has been seen in more than 185 countries and territories, and that the 83rd ceremony aired on 11 January 2026. Tickets are not sold to the public, and the red carpet is limited to accredited media. The Globes' news page lists a separate item opening media applications for the 10 January 2027 red carpet and ceremony, with a note that applying does not guarantee a credential because of space limits.

What is still unpublished

The number of nomination slots for Best Podcast is not in the announcement or the timetable.

The size of the voting body is another gap. The FAQ describes who may apply to vote and the rules those voters accept. It does not give a figure for how many people decide the award.

Which of the 30 will file is also open. Submission is a decision each show makes, so the ballot that reaches voters in November may be shorter than the list.

The published material carries no ranking and no shortlist order. The list is alphabetical, and the winner is read out on 10 January 2027.
