Imperium Wins BFI LFF’s Top Prize as Audience Award Voting Closes Oct. 21
Imperium won the 70th BFI London Film Festival's Best Film Award. The separate Audience Award vote closes Oct. 21, with winners still to come.

Imperium, directed by Sergei Loznitsa, won the Best Film Award in the Official Competition at the 70th BFI London Film Festival. The BFI announced the competition winners on Oct. 18 as the festival ended. The film uses archival footage by Italian cameramen to show life in the Soviet Union in the early 1970s.
The other competition prizes went to 9 Temples to Heaven, which won the Sutherland Award for First Feature; Concrete Land, winner of the Grierson Award for Documentary; and Aman, which took the Short Film Award. Their directors are Sompot Chidgasornpongse, Asmahan Bkerat and Rahul Roye, respectively.
The jury awards are separate from the festival’s Audience Awards. Voting for Best Feature Film and Best British Discovery closes Wednesday, Oct. 21, and the BFI says those winners will be announced later. Its competition results list the four jury winners but do not name an Audience Award winner.
